The Day My Husband Almost Fired Me As A Client

Hey Magical One!

In 2010 I started my first blog.

The main reason I started it was to have a place where I could keep a collection of all the fabulous raw food recipes I was finding online. A place to house my favorites and a place to send others to for those who wanted the recipes and didn’t want me to send them 10 thousand links going all over the place.

It was easier this way.

This was waaaaaaaay before Pinterest was even an idea.

I also documented some of my journey along the way to getting healthy, but was still scared to let go and really write from the heart.

Ah, baggage.

I didn’t have much confidence in my ability to write well either, but I had a longing for it.

When I met Lee in 2012, he started talking about copywriting.

Hu? Copy-Writing? Isn’t coping someone else’s work called plagiarism?

I was confused.

He had to explain to me that it was how to write to sell.

Ooooooooh!

“But I don’t want to sell, I just want to share!” I would protest.

“Do you want to make money online? Do you want to start a business and get out of your 9-5 job?” He’d ask.

“Yes, of course!”

“Then you need to learn how to sell.”

I would moan and groan about it – showing resistance at it’s finest.

Then one day he became fed up with my resistance, looked me straight in the eyes and told me…

“If you were my client I would have fired you a long time ago.”

I was shocked, hurt and angry.

How dare he give up on me like that! I needed him to teach me this stuff so I could have the freedom filled life my soul craved and he knew it.

Then I took a step back and realized what a pain in the you-know-what I had been and decided then and there that I was going to be a better student. I was going to be coachable.

“Alright, how do I sell?” I asked him.

He went to his bookshelf, grabbed a stack of papers and gave me instructions to go through it and pick out my favorite sales letter.

“A sales letter? What’s that?” I asked.

“A letter that’s written to someone to sell them something.” he explained.

People write letters to sell things? I thought all of that was done in person. I had so much to learn…

Tomorrow I’ll tell you what happened next and the life long skill I learned that changed everything.

I’ll also be going into details on how this skill works and how to maximise it in next week’s Success Circle. You don’t want to miss this.
