I Tried Not To Scream

Hi Magical One!

I’m not exactly a fan of shaving. In order to get the silky smooth effect and look most women are after, shaving needs to happen every day.

After over 25 years of shaving…it gets old…FAST.

What’s an alternative to this?

Not shaving or waxing.

Not shaving is only an option in the winter time and even then I can only handle long hairs on my legs getting all flattened against cute little tights for so long. It just feels weird!

I love the way a good way job feels on my legs. It’s skin at its smoothest, pristine point. The look every magical unicorn wants to achieve.

Plus it lasts for a whole month!

I’ve only had a wax job a couple of times in my life. The other day I bought my first DIY kit, heated up the wax and quickly remember why I wait so long in between sessions.

After heating up the wax, I headed to the bathroom where I proceeded to get it everywhere.

E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E

This stuff is messy and can only be removed with oil.

I put my first glob of wax down the front of my calf, placed the strip on top, tried not to get the hair on my head caught in the innocent looking tar-like substance and pulled.

More like ripped!

I tried not to scream. It hurt so bad! But in the name of beauty, I carried on.

In the process it got all over my hands so I couldn’t move my hair out of the way because the way would get stuck in it. The wooden spatula stick thing that spreads the wax stuck to my hands, making it hard to maneuver. The bowl holding the wax stuck to my hands and the tub. I wasn’t kidding about it getting everywhere.

There was a point I reconsidered my choice to do it myself.

Is it really worth all this messy effort? Is this a job best left to the professionals?

Yes and Yes/Maybe/Sometimes

I think it’s good to know how to do things ourselves. Especially when it comes to taking care of our bodies and our businesses.

It’s especially good to know how to do things yourself so you can show others how to do things the way you want it done in your business, or do it yourself, or even know if they messed it up and how to fix it.

Learning how to do things yourself can be messy and sticky and sometimes downright painful, but it’s worth it.
