We are halfway through the third quarter of the year already. Boy how time flies!
That means the fourth (and last) quarter will be here before you know it.
This cycle happens every year, but if you’re not prepared for it, it’s like having Christmas and having to buy all those presents for everyone sneak up on you. Every. Single. Year.
It’s time to start thinking about that fourth quarter and what you’re going to be doing in your business.
Are you going to launch a podcast? Start a blog? Start writing your next best selling novel?
Part of the strategy that I share with my clients is how to create a success plan for their business and you may be surprised to learn that it’s not the usual fill-up-your-calendar-with-loads-of-stuff-and-make-yourself-start-it-all-at-once type of strategy.
That shit don’t work.
I mean Never Ever EVER!
Trust me, I’ve tried.
And tried some more.
It doesn’t work.
I’ll tell you why. Because I know you are full of great intentions and want to do what you are called to do. You wouldn’t be an entrepreneur if you didn’t have that inner voice nudging you to go for your dreams.
But, making those dreams come true is a whole other beast to tackle and it’s not always easy.
In fact, it can be downright hard!
That’s where most people with the best of intentions get stuck. The idea gets to be too big and they don’t know where to start or how to move forward. Sometimes it’s just easier to dream.
I have a very simple solution for you.
Dream. Dream BIG. See your dream. Feel it. Close your eyes if you have to.
Do you see it?
Now, put a due date on it.
What?!? You want me to put an actual due date on it?!?
Yes. Yes I do!
Once you have your due date, start to work your way backwards along your timeline creating tasks in manageable chunks and due dates on those puppies.
If it’s too big for you to digest right now, just focus on the next 3 months. What is something you could do in the next 3 months that will help you get closer to your goal?
What can you do in 3 months? 2 months? 1 month? 3 weeks? 2 weeks? 1 week? 1 day?
PUT THEM IN YOUR CALENDAR!
If you’re a creative person, then this may feel like pulling teeth, yet I know you crave some sort of structure. It just feels good. It feels even better when YOU are the one who has created the structure and not someone else.
Get an accountability partner or a coach to help you break it down into realistic goals and stick to it. Sometimes getting an outside perspective is like sprinkling gold dust on your world domination plan.
By breaking up your plan into manageable chunks, putting them in your calendar AND having someone in your life to help keep you on track, increases your success rate tremendously.
Next start to create a daily habit around those smaller tasks.
Maybe your goal is to write a novel. How many words do you need to write each day in order to reach your goal? 100? 500? 5,000?
Create your daily writing habit with the smallest goal possible and as your habit becomes easy, build on it.
So what are you waiting for?!?
Go forth and DO!
